Portrait Equality has the mission to give photos, not just take them, but we would not be able to do this without so many people. Obviously our photographers who donate their time and talent to do the actual giving of prints and sharing the story with us. Obviously the team members who donate their time to keep the website going, arrange the gallery shows, organise the camera roster to make sure each is out in the world as much as possible. We greatly appreciate our sponsors who help things going too by providing equipment and in some cases subsidising entire cameras for the year.
However we continue to operate, to give photos, and to share these heartwarming stories with you by donations which help us purchase the film and post the cameras out to our photographers.
We want to take time now to thank Applause Apps for pledging to donate a portion of their sales to help keep us running. Here the fun and fabulous ladies tell us about what helped her make this decision:
We thought a long time about potential charities to donate. Along with donating to serious causes such as women’s education, we also wanted to contribute something that would bring joy to people in less fortunate circumstances. It’s easy to forget the little things that we take for granted, such as having mementos such as photographs. In these countries, families would go generations without ever owning a photograph of themselves. By donating to Portrait Equality, we are allowing these people to create lifelong memories and in some cases, giving them the only photograph they will ever own.
Consider making your own donation and remember it takes just $20 to give 20 families a print to call their own. We have also revamped our rewards for this crowdfunding campaign including prints of the best images, an opportunity to name your own camera, and even a copy of our annual book along with feeding your own sense of personal of corporate responsibility now!
