Alycia is from Sydney, Australia where she works as Teacher of Design, Visual Arts and Photography. Alycia will be travelling through Cambodia and Thailand in June and July with a group of 16 Year 10 & 11 students. The focus of the first half of the trip is a community project at a Primary School located in Pouy Ta Sek Village, on the North-West of Battambang. The group will be interacting closely with the community and sleeping in village home stays.
Alycia uses Photography when travelling as a way of connecting with people; and has travelled through much of India and South America and Trekked through parts of Nepal and Peru. On this trip she will also be taking Rosella the yet-unnamed Camera.
“It takes a lot of trust for people to let you to take their photograph, it’s a way of communicating with someone who you wouldn’t be able to otherwise. So often I’ve captured a beautiful moment and walked away feeling guilty, as though I’ve stolen something that wasn’t mine to have. I love the idea of being able to contribute to someone’s tangible memories and give them something they can cherish.”
“I love this photo, everyone is having their own little moment. When I found it, it was like finding treasure.”
