Jeff is taking Sanchez the camera to Peru for three weeks in May, to photograph portraits like he has done previously in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The Inca heartland has always fascinated Jeff, as it is a country split into three by jungle, coast and mountain and he wants to get a taste of all three. He has done five big expeditions since 2009 and for one reason or another; Peru has always been the country that had got away.
Jeff feels that travel by its nature is governed by privilege. He has been lucky enough to see the world, gain experiences, write and photograph and share these experiences with an audience. He wants to continue to share narratives with his audience and he believes that the idea of Portrait Equality brings the democratisation of this narrative further yet another step.
Jeff’s favourite photo was taken in 2009 in Madrid, Spain. It is of Jeff and his family all together on their first family trip outside North America, when his family came together last minute to travel through France and Spain.
