Thanks to Frankie magazine, we are doing an even better job of sharing the word and finding out that many of you have had similar positive experiences giving photos, not just taking them.
Sharee Gray doesn’t have any immediate travel plans, but chose to be a part of our project by donating through our simple link (Paypal or bank transfer).
She also shared with us her own experience where giving this simple image may have led to a local child being named after her!
“I came across you through Frankie Magazine and fell in love with what you guys are doing! I love travel and I love that you’re giving people a chance to do more than just experience the great cultures, but giving the opportunity for us to give back.
A few years back I did a solo trip through India. My Polaroid camera was by my side the whole trip as I wanted to take one each day of something that inspired me! But what I found was the people being so shocked by the camera and seeing themselves on the other side.
One day that I cannot forget was a tribal village wedding I attended in south of India near Andra Pradesh. It was a prearranged wedding. I was invited into the hut where the bride was getting ready and I soon became a guest of honour… (although undeserving) and got to walk the bride down the isle, read a scripture and take this amazing picture!
I gave them the picture which blessed them more then I imagined. Something so small! I have later found out that they have named their first child after me!!! Such a surreal experience!
Thanks for reminding me of my love of travel, photography and a heart to give back! I’d love to get involved with what you are doing on my next trip abroad! But until then I will follow all the great stories your photographers are catching!”
We may not name our child after you, but we could name a camera after you!!! Donate now! Even a little bit!
